Im thinking of buying one, but am not sure which is the best all rounder.

You would need someone who has both machines to answer this question. Given the price they are this is unlikely.
My shop sells the Silhouette because we already do the other Quickutz machines and it looked good when we saw it demonstrated at a trade show. We have not had any complaints yet. If you use a lot of alphabet letters or numbers the Silhouette is good value as alphabet die sets for the manual machines can cost from £60 to £150 each just for one font (typestyle) in one size. The Silhouette can cut any font on your computer (and there are thousands more you can download) in any size and colour you want and can also cut clip art as well as the dedicated downloads you can buy.

Help I have a Cricut Personal Cutting machine and it is dragging the blade across the paper it is cutting. How do I fix this?

Have you tried adjusting the depth that it is cutting at? Or maybe the blade is getting dull and needs to be replaced. Hope you figure it out!

YOu have to adjust the blade with each different weight of paper you use.

If you own one – please give your pros and cons on the product and also any additional costs (for cartridges, blades, etc.) If there’s a better product out there – please recommend!

I have the oldest version of the Cricut and love it. The newer version (costs about $350) connects to your computer. There are so many things you can do with the Cricut. There is a website for Cricut—forgot what it is but I imagine just do a search and it will come up.

I love the letters and cut outs you can make. Where I live Michaels, Joannes and AC Moore have sales occasionally on the cartridges so I wait for a sale before buying a cartridge. There are Disney cartridges, different fonts, holidays, etc.

Something came out recently where I think (?) you can connect the older version Cricut to your computer, but not sure on what. Haven’t researched that yet.

I love the convenience of being able to do my own letters in the colors, size and font I want. Great gadget!!

I have the smaller Cricut.. I’ve had it about a month now. My problem is when I am using the machine I load the mat/paper and it will pull it in, But when its time for it to cut… the screen says "Cutting" but its actually not doing anything. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

When you say it does "nothing", is in completely still, or is it making noise but not cutting?

When I first got mine, it made noise but did not cut, and it was because I needed to put the needle in correctly and change the depth on the machine. It took a little bit of adjusting, and I don’t remember exactly what I did, but it started cutting after that.

If it really does nothing at all, take it back and get a new one, or contact the manufacturer.

Are they worth the cost? And does anyone know of a place that has them at a good price? I have checked ebay but by the time you purchase the item, the insurance, and the shipping they cost more than in the store. Thanks for the help.

I am thinking of buying one. I want to make alphabet pop up cards e.g so when you open the card it either eads happy birthday, new baby, congratulations etc. Can I use this machine for this? Is this machine worth the money and what ese can I use it for

The machine will definitely cut out the letters for you, and there are a plethera of different font cartridges for that. It is a pretty cool little toy, but it is definitely an investment. It can cut out thousands of different shapes and letters and words, depending on which cartridges you have, and it can range in sizes from 1" to 5.5". It can also do many different effects such as shadowing on your letters or creating little tags, etc.

It’s super easy to use, and you can cut several different types of paper; you just have to adjust the blade depth.

It is worth the money, but only if you are going to really get a lot of use out of it.

I’ve been trying to figure out how to get letters that are 18" tall on the Cricut Expression Machine. We have the 24" long cutting mats. Any ideas?
