Cricut Mat losing stickiness?

What is the best way to reuse the Cricut mat?

Some people have said to gently wipe the mat with a damp paper towel, and your mat will be sticky again. Not as sticky as before, but more sticky than it is now.

Some have suggested scrubbing off all the stickiness of the mat, taping the edges with masking tape, and spraying the mat with an Adhesive Spray.

I’ve also read that you shouldn’t use the Adhesive Spray method because it may cause damage to your machine. But some people who have tried it said they didn’t come across any problems.

What would you suggest for someone who already has six 12"x6" mats… 4 not sticky and 2 still sticky.

Thanks! =)

I have the 12"x12" and reuse mine all the time. I first scrub them with dish soap and a scrubbing brush then wait till that dries, then tape off the edges this is so you don’t ruin the rollers on the cricut. Then I use Basting spray and lightly spray the mat. I have not had any problems and have been doing this for about 2 months and I use my cricut everyday, I started a business with mine. If the mat is too sticky after just pat your hand down on it all over it and the oil from your hands will take away some of the tackiness. I hope that help. If you haven’t been to cricut.com go there. First go to comunity and message boards then there are a lot of different subject like crafts chats tips layout cards vinyls and a lot more.

cricut users, are the tacky mats reusable and if so, approx. how many usages before the mat needs replaced?

The mats are reusable. i’ve had my cricut a few months and have not had to replace the mat.. i think it all depends on how much you really use it. Now if you only use a few times and it loses its stickyness then you might want to call the provo craft customer service( i heard they are great ) they might replace it for u. Hope that Helps

Is there a way to make a Cricut mat sticky again?

They are not lasting me very long. My paper goes sliding in the middle of cutting.

I am going home and trying the following things I have been told, as my mat has lost it’s tackiness. I was told to try a lint roller, but I’m not sure about this one. I was told to try a baby wipe and then let the mat dry for about 5 minutes and the tackiness will come back (it won’t feel like it at first). And lastly, which I think will be the winner and the most talked about on the internet, is spray the mat with re-positional adhesive making sure to put masking tape (painter’s tape) on the edges before applying. People swear by this one the most. I bought a can today and am going to try it out tonight.
